April Meeting Recap
We thank the Kenwood Heights Christian Church for hosting our monthly luncheon. Jimbo's Bar-B-Que provided a delicious buffet style lunch.

Barbara Nichols, IABA President, welcomed everyone to the meeting. Each person in attendance introduced themselves and their business. Barbara then introduced our special guest, Mayor Greg Fischer.

Mayor Fischer said that cities change over time. In Louisville we’ve gone from being a manufacturing city to a city with other specialties. We have more Senior Care headquarters than any other city. With the retooling of Ford’s Louisville Assembly plant, the Ford Truck plant, and the Georgetown Toyota plant, we have not only the most advanced automobile facility, but also a great opportunity for the growth of auto part plants springing up around us. He spoke of the importance of education—our public schools and our colleges and universities. He wants to move forward on projects like the Ohio River bridges, and the Iron Quarter building project. He was happy to see the Firefighters and the police take-home car issues resolved. He also fielded questions on the state law that punishes schools for not reaching proficiency scores instead of considering what challenges each school faces and the real progress being made, vandalism and lack of police protection in Iroquois Park, and getting something done with Colonial Gardens and other vacant retail buildings in the south end.

Forty-two were in attendance at the meeting, not including the Mayor and his associate.

Our next meeting will be at the Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital--Churchman Avenue Conference Center on May 19. The luncheon will begin at 11:30.
